KALASAN TEMPLE

            Kalasan Temple or often called Kalibening Temple categorized as there is a Buddhist temple. Kalasan temple is situated in Kalibening,Tirtamartani, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, precisely in the south of the highway Yogyakarta-Solo/Surakarta (about 60 meters).          
            Kalasan body square with some performers that juts out at the middle. On the southeast side there is a booth that can be entered through the east side of the chamber viewer. On the southeast side of the chamber there is a throne backed with patterned decoration lion standing on the back of an elephant. On the outside of the body of the temple there is a niche decorated with the figure of the god figure in a standing position holding a lotus flower. At each entrance (north and south parts of the door) there is an ornament of time.
            The top of the decorated tree and cloud paintings of gods and celestial dwellers that plays sounds, among them carrying drums, fiddle, shell, and camara. The body of the temple top there is a cube-shaped building which is considered as waterless surrounding Mount Meru and there are several stupas.
            The roof of the temple: The boundary between the roof and the body of the temple are adorned with celestial beings that dwarf (gana). The roof of the temple and the octagonal two-story. On each side at the first level and there is a statue of Buddha depicts Buddha Manusi. At the second level there is a statue of Buddha (now complete) which depicts the Dhyani Buddha, for example Dhyani Buddha Ratnasambhawa (located on the south side).
            Part waterless temple stupa suspected, but until now this section is not successfully reconstructed because a lot of the original rocks were not been found again.
            Restoration according to some archeologists Kalasan has experienced three times of restoration. As seen evidence of the existence of the temple with four corner legs protruding parts. There are also inscribed on the stone for the purposes pemugaan in 1927 and 1929 by Romondt van, a Dutch archaeologist. From the results it is known that a high overall restoration Kalasan is 34 meters, 34 meters long and 45 meters wide.
